About Shirley Goodwin

I have been quilting for around 15 years.  Following my purchase of Tillia Dyes in 2003, I started dyeing my own fabric, and this added a whole new dimension to making quilts. Now I could not only design my own quilts, but also make the fabric for them.

I enjoy taking a traditional design and making it different; using a blend of hand-dyes with commercial fabric. This is how Dyeing2Design was born, and this is the philosophy behind it. My vision is to design a range of quilt patterns that show other quilters how to move outside the confines of strictly traditional fabrics and designs.

Now that I'm able to spend more time developing my art quilts, I'm exploring more facets of surface design and fabric manipulation.  I'm also teaching a number of classes in dyeing, surface design and quilting both locally and nationally.

My quilts have been accepted in several national exhibitions.  Once I have an established studio and retail space, quilts and art work will be available for sale.
